Striking Health Workers To Meet FG On Monday by Idowu Olabode : December 20, 2014, 06:46:46 AM
The leadership of the Joint Health Sector Unions of Nigeria (JOHESU) will on Monday, December 22, 2014, meet with officials of the federal government to find ways of putting an end to the full-scale strike embarked upon by health workers in thecountry on December 15, 2014.

Secretary of JOHESU in Rivers State, Dr Chris Mbata, who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said those expected at the meeting, which will hold in Abuja, are officials of the federal ministry of Labour and Productivity as well as those of the federal ministry of Health.

The health workers, who declared an industrial action on November 12 as a matter of last resort, are protesting the federal government’s refusal to show full commitment in addressing the demands put forward by the union.

Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan vowed yesterday that the federal government will leave no stone unturned in tackling what he described as unhealthy rivalries among health care professionals.

This is even as the presidential committee of experts on Inter-Professional Relationship in the Public Health Sector said it identified 50 areas of conflict after receiving memoranda and interacting with about 40 professional bodies in the public health sector and members of the public.
