Happy International Nurses Week To The True Superheroes - NANNA by katty : May 12, 2020, 05:53:06 AM
International Nurses' Week begins on May 6 and ends on Florence Nightgale’s birthday, May 12. It is our honor to pay tribute and extend our sincere thanks to all the Nigerian nurses and midwives for continued commitment to excellence in patient care and improving work environment.

This year is a special year for all the professional nurses and midwives. It is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honor of Florence Nightingale’s contribution to health – on the 200th anniversary of her birth as well as to appreciate the exceptional and crucial roles of nurses and midwives in delivering quality healthcare for all.

The COVID-19 pandemic has further affirmed the value of nurses. We know that nurses are the backbone of Nigerian health care, and often its heart and soul. In these unprecedented times, you answered the call of duty with great bravery even at personal cost.

We have seen and continue to be amazed by how you contribute in so many important critical ways, adapt to changing, very complex clinical situations, and help take the lead in the fight against COVID-19. Your sacrifice and dedication is truly exemplified by the overwhelming stories across Nigeria of how nurses assisted patients and their families through this most difficult time.

As you continue to battle through this biggest challenge in healthcare history, we call on the government to keep nurses and midwives protected.

Each day without proper protection means the risk of another nurse/midwife contracting COVID-19 and no longer being able to provide patient care. We can neither put another nurse/midwife in harm's way, nor can we afford to lose even one nurse.

As nurses selflessly lead the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, protect them to save lives.
Thank you nurses for “taking your heart to work’ every day. Keep strong and be safe as you build a strong voice to lead in nursing Nigerians to health.

Happy Nurses Week!
